Xiaomi Installation Guide: MIUI and System Optimization Settings
Steps to check MIUI or HyperOS optimization settings when a Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO phone blocks installation of an APK or split package.
Why a Xiaomi phone may block installation
Some Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO phones impose additional restrictions on installation requests from third-party installers. A single APK may install normally while a package made up of several APKs fails with messages such as "Installation failed," "Permission Denied," or "User rejected permissions." Sometimes the full confirmation screen does not appear.
This does not necessarily mean the download is damaged. If APKBang finishes downloading but the system immediately ends the installation, you can check MIUI optimization, HyperOS system optimization, and Pure mode.
Turning off optimization on MIUI
- Open Settings and go to My device or About phone.
- Open All specs and tap MIUI version about five to seven times, until the phone says Developer options are enabled.
- Return to Settings, open Additional settings, then Developer options.
- Scroll to the bottom, find Turn on MIUI optimization, switch it off, and confirm the system prompt.
- Restart the phone. On some MIUI versions, the change does not take effect until after a restart.
- Open APKBang again and retry the app installation.
Settings on HyperOS
- Open Settings, then My device, then All specs.
- Tap OS version repeatedly to enable Developer options.
- Return to Settings, then Additional settings, then Developer options.
- Scroll to the bottom and turn off system optimization, which may be labeled Turn on system optimization or something similar.
- Restart the phone, return to APKBang, and try again.
Menu names vary by system version. You can search Settings for Developer options, MIUI optimization, or system optimization.
What if the optimization switch is missing?
Some newer systems hide the setting, while enterprise management, parental controls, or device security policies may prevent changes. Make sure Developer options are enabled and scroll to the bottom of that screen. If the switch is still missing, do not use an untrusted tool to force a system-setting change.
You can also check Pure mode in the system installer's settings and allow APKBang under Install unknown apps. After changing settings, leave the system installation screen and start a new installation from APKBang.
If installation still fails
- Make sure you restarted the phone after changing the setting, instead of merely closing Settings.
- Clear the unfinished installation task, then download or install again.
- Check that the device's Android version and CPU architecture meet the app's requirements.
- If an app with the same package name is already installed, check that the signatures match and that the new package is not an older version.
- Submit the app name, package name, phone model, and full error message through an APKBang support ticket.
Effects and precautions
Turning off system optimization may change some permission, notification, or interface behavior. You can turn optimization back on after installation if needed. If a later update to the same split-APK app fails, you may need to repeat these steps. Do not change other Developer options that you do not understand.
