Facebook Login Verification and Account Security Guide
A safe troubleshooting order for missing Facebook verification codes, two-factor authentication problems, unusual sign-ins, and account recovery.
Check your sign-in environment first
Make sure you are signing in to your own account, and check your phone's time, network connection, and whether Facebook is available. Avoid requesting codes repeatedly in quick succession, which may trigger a temporary limit.
What if the verification code does not arrive?
- Check the country or region code, phone number, and spelling of your email address.
- Check blocked text messages, spam mail, and notifications on devices where you are already signed in.
- Wait before requesting another code. If possible, use a device and network previously associated with the account.
Two-factor authentication and account recovery
First try your authenticator app, backup codes, or a device where you are already signed in. If your original verification method is unavailable, use Facebook's official account recovery process. Never give anyone your verification code or backup codes.
Review your security settings after signing in
- Set a password you have not used on another website.
- Review signed-in devices and remove sessions you do not recognize.
- Confirm your email address, phone number, and two-factor authentication methods.
